This is the combination of the two surveys that were distributed in the Flatbush-East Flatbush neighborhood to gauge public opinion of environmental health concerns within the 11203, 11210, 11225, 11226 zip codes. We also tried to determine the perceptions of their primary health concern which was found to be cancer.
We began our preliminary research at Brooklyn College where we collected 112 surveys regarding the primary health concern in our area of study. We then continued our survey through Crown Heights and the remainder of the Flatbush-East Flatbush neighborhoods. The remaining 100 surveys in compilation with the first 112 indicated that 83% of those surveyed listed cancer as a primary health concern.
We then distributed a second survey in which 150 participants listed
what they believed to be the most prominent cause of cancer in these
areas. This survey was distributed along with a graph which illustrated
the number of cancer cases reported. Click
