
In our survey we asked the people of our neighborhood what they
believed is the most prominent cause of the reported cancer cases in
Flatbush-East Flatbush. The pie graph above depicts the results of our
150 surveys. The breakdown of the demographics is as follows:
58% were women and 42% were men
48% were under 25, 34% were between 26 and 50, and 18% were over 51.
Of the 32% who listed air releases as the primary cause of the
reported cancer cases, 54% were men and 46% were women.
Of the 27% who listed toxic releases as the primary cause of the
reported cancer cases, 72% were women and 28% were men.
Of the 18% who listed hazardous waste as the primary cause of the
reported cancer cases, 52% were women and 48% were men.
Of the 10% who had no opinion, 60% were men and 40% were women.
Of the 8% who listed poverty/slum conditions as the primary cause of
the reported cancer cases, 67% were women ans 33% were men.
Of the 5% who listed other causes, 100% were women and 0% were men.
